Formylpeptidereceptors(FPR)areGprotein-coupledreceptorsthatare
activatedbydifferentagoNISTsincludedN-formylatedpeptidesoriginatingfrombacteriaandmitochondria.Inhumans,theFPRfamilyincludesthehighaffinityFPR1,thelowaffinityFPR2/ALX(previouslyknownasFPRL1orALX)andFPR3.HumanFPR1isimportantforphagocytechemotaxis,superoxideproduction,anddegranulation,andhelpsdirectphagocytestositesofinfection.
FunctionalFPR1expressionhasbeendemonstratedonfibroblasts,bonemarrowmesenchymalstemcells,A549lungcells,HEP-G2hepatomacells,andonseveraltypesofepithelialcells.
