Hsp90playsaroleinfolding,assembly,maturation,andstABIlizationofspecificproteinsasakeycomponentofachaperonecomplex.MostoftheHsp90-regulatedproteinsthathavebeenidentifiedareinvolvedincellsignaling;kinases,v-Src,Wee1,c-Raf,andp53aresomeexamples.WhenboundtoATP,Hsp90interactswithco-chaperonesCdc37,p23,andvariousimmunophilin-likeproteinstoformcomplexesthatstabilizeandprotecttargetproteinsfromproteasomaldegradation.
