Asymmetricdimethylarginine(ADMA)isanaturallyoccurringchemicalfoundinbloodplasma.Itisametabolicby-productofcontinualproteinmodificationprocessesinthecytoplasmofallhumancells.ItiscloselyrelatedtoL-arginine.ADMAinterfereswithL-arginineintheproductionofnitricoxide,akeychemicalinvolvedinnormalendothelialfunctionand,byextension,cardio-vascularhealth.SinceraisedlevelsofADMAappeartobeassociatedwithadversehumanhealthconsequencesforcardiovasculardisease,metabolicdiseases,andalsoawiderangeofdiseasesoftheelderly,thepossIBLeloweringofADMAlevelsmayhaveimportanttherapeuticeffects.
ThisantibodyreactswithfreeandboundADMA.Itdoesnotcross-reactwithfreeorboundarginineorNG-monomethylarginine.
