Calreticulinismadeupofthreedomains:1180residueN-terminaldomain,aproline-richP-domain(aa189-288)thatbindsCa+2withhighaffinityandshareshomologywithcalnexinandcalmegin,anda110residueC-terminaldomainthatbindsCa+2withlowaffinitybuthighcapacity.Calreticulinappearstobeinvolvedincalciumstorageandregulation,hasmolecularchaperoneactivity,andhasbeenshowntobeinducedinresponsetovarioustypesofcellstress.
